How Do You Use Gemini in Google Ads?

Answered 3 November 2026 · Written and reviewed by

The Short Answer

You use Gemini in Google Ads through three Google tools: Ask Advisor (a chat inside your account), the AI Brief that steers AI Max (both in beta), and the chat that builds new Search campaigns. In the Gemini app, you upload screenshots or exports. Scaley Media Buyer, which we build, reads your live account read-only.

Where Google Ads Gemini Already Runs

Google Ads has no feature called just "Gemini". Gemini sits behind three features, each with its own name.

The three Google Ads features Google says run on Gemini, what each does and where you find it, per Google's help pages and blog, checked 3 November 2026
FeatureWhat Google says it doesWhere you find itStatus
Ask AdvisorAnswers questions about your account, explains performance changes, helps with policy issues, suggests new ads and makes suggested changes with your approvalThe Ask Advisor icon at the top right of Google Ads, or type a question in the top search barBeta. English accounts only. Not in manager (MCC) accounts.
AI BriefLets you tell AI Max in your own words what ads should say, which searches to chase or avoid, and who to reachInside an AI Max for Search campaignClosed beta when Google last wrote about it (September 2026)
Campaign chat (Google calls it the conversational experience)Reads your landing page and suggests ad groups, keywords and ads for a new Search campaignWhen you create a Search campaign or edit a responsive search ad, if your account has itLive for Search, in English, French, Spanish and German

One more thing you will see: Google Ads can make images for your ads in Asset Studio. Google calls the model Nano Banana Pro and says it is rolling out to all active Google Ads users. That page does not say Gemini, so I am not calling it Gemini here. You pick which images to add, and generated images carry a hidden SynthID watermark.

What Ask Advisor Can and Cannot Do

Ask Advisor is the one most people mean when they search "Gemini in Google Ads". Google's help page calls it "an agentic conversational experience built within Gemini capabilities". Google's Accelerate page for it lists "Upgraded to Gemini 3" under what is new for 2026, and says it is in the Google Ads mobile app too.

You ask in plain words. "Why did my cost per sale jump last week?" "Why was this ad disapproved?" "Write me three new headlines." It can also change a campaign setting, and Google says that happens "with your approval".

Four limits from Google's own pages. It is a beta, so there may be gaps. Google's launch post says it is for English language accounts for now. It is not in manager (MCC) accounts, so if you or your agency run several accounts from one login, you open each account on its own. And Google tells you to check billing, identity checks and policy appeal results yourself in the account settings.

Price: the help page lists none. It is just there in your account, if your account is eligible.

Using the Gemini App with Your Google Ads Data

The Gemini app (gemini.google.com) is a different thing. It does not sit in your ad account. Google's Connected Apps help page lists apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Flights and YouTube. I found no Google Ads connection on that list when I checked on 3 November 2026. Google says the list changes by country, device and account, so look in your own app.

So the way in is upload. Export a report from Google Ads (search terms, campaigns or products), or take a screenshot, and drop it into the chat. Google says you can add up to 10 files in one prompt, and most files can be up to 100 MB.

Then ask one clear job. A made-up example: "Here are my search terms for the last 30 days. My target cost per sale is $40. List every term that spent over $60 with zero sales, and group them by theme so I can add negatives."

Gemini handles that kind of job well. What it will not do is know anything you left out. It cannot see last month unless you upload last month. It does not know your margin unless you type it in. And it cannot check whether the answer still holds tomorrow.

Google also has a read-only MCP server for Google Ads (a small program that lets an AI chat read your Google Ads data). You need a Google Cloud project to run it, and our Google Ads MCP post walks through the setup.

How to Use Gemini on Your Google Ads, Step by Step

The order I would follow on a store account, from the tools already inside Google Ads to the Gemini app.

  1. 1

Open Ask Advisor in your account

Click the Ask Advisor icon at the top right of Google Ads, or type a question in the top search bar. If you do not see it, your account may not have it yet. It does not open from a manager (MCC) account.

  2. 2

Ask one question with a time range

Try "Which campaigns spent the most last week with the fewest sales?" One clear question gets a better answer than "how is my account?".

  3. 3

Check any change before you approve it

Ask Advisor makes changes only with your approval. Read what it wants to change and why. Check billing and policy results in account settings yourself, as Google advises.

  4. 4

Use the campaign chat for your next Search campaign

When you create a Search campaign, give it your landing page. Read every keyword and ad it suggests before the campaign goes live.

  5. 5

Take a second look in the Gemini app

Export your search terms report, take out customer names, emails and anything private, upload it, and give Gemini your target cost per sale. Ask for the terms that spent and did not sell.

  6. 6

Check the result a week later

Whatever you changed, compare the week after with the week before. Keep the change only if sales or cost per sale got better.

Are There Ads in Gemini?

Some people search "google ads in Gemini" and mean the other way round: will my ads show inside Google's AI? That depends on where.

In Google Search, yes. Google's help page says existing Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns can show ads in AI Overviews and AI Mode. It is in English, in the US and some other English-speaking countries. You cannot target only those spots, and you cannot switch them off on their own. Google also says the ads do not change what the AI answer says.

In the Gemini app, I found no Google announcement of ads when I checked on 3 November 2026. The last clear word I found is from December 2025. Google's VP of Global Ads, Dan Taylor, posted that there are no ads in the Gemini app and no current plans to change that (reported by 9to5Google).

Gemini App vs Ask Advisor vs Scaley Media Buyer

Two things matter: what it can see, and what it can change. The third column is Scaley Media Buyer, our own product.

The Gemini app, Google's Ask Advisor and Scaley Media Buyer compared on what they see, what they change and what they cost, checked 3 November 2026

Ask Advisor sits in the account at no listed price, and it sees the live numbers. I would use it. I just would not make it the only voice checking where my money goes. I want a second opinion from someone who does not sell me the clicks.

Honest Limits: What Gemini Cannot Do for Your Ads Yet

Google sees revenue from your tracking. It sees margin only if you send cost of goods sold in your feed. Most stores do not. So a "good" ROAS can still lose money.

The Gemini app cannot pull fresh numbers from your account. It only knows what you upload or type in. That is fine for one question. It is weak for "what changed since last week?" unless you upload both weeks.

Not every account has Ask Advisor or the AI Brief yet.

People may read your Gemini app chats. Google's privacy page says "A subset of chats are reviewed by human reviewers", and reviewed chats are kept for up to three years. To stop your future chats being reviewed to improve Google's services, turn off Keep Activity. Even then, Google keeps chats for 72 hours. So take out customer names, emails and anything private before you upload an export.

Where Scaley Fits Next to Gemini

Scaley is ours, so weigh this part with that in mind.

Scaley Media Buyer ($99/mo + 1% of total ad spend) connects to your Google Ads account read-only. You ask "where did I waste money this week?" and you see your waste right away. The chat has quick checks too, like Wasters, Winners and Trending, so you do not have to think up the question. The dashboard also keeps a running line, like "Scaley found $X in wasted spend this week", so you see it without asking. It only works when you ask. It never changes anything.

Scaley Consultant ($99/mo flat) is the screenshot route, like the Gemini app, but it only does Google Ads. You upload screenshots or CSVs. It connects to nothing.

Scaley Suite ($199/mo + 4% of total ad spend) finds the fixes, like a negative keyword or a budget move, and makes each change only after you say yes to that one change.

You do not need any of this to start. Open Ask Advisor in your account today and ask it one question about last week.

Common Questions

Is Gemini in Google Ads free?

Ask Advisor sits inside Google Ads, and its help page lists no separate price. You still pay for your clicks. The Gemini app has a free plan and paid Google AI plans.

Can I connect Google Ads to the Gemini app?

Not that I could find. Google's Connected Apps help page did not list Google Ads when I checked on 3 November 2026. Upload exports or screenshots instead, or use Ask Advisor inside the account.

Is Ask Advisor the same as Gemini?

Ask Advisor is Google's chat inside Google Ads. Google says it is built within Gemini capabilities and was upgraded to Gemini 3 in 2026. The Gemini app is a separate product that cannot see your ad account.

Can Gemini run my Google Ads for me?

Not on its own. Ask Advisor suggests changes and makes them with your approval. The Gemini app only reads what you upload. Google's own AI, like Smart Bidding and AI Max, does act on its own inside the limits you set.

Can AI do my Google Ads?

Is it safe to put Google Ads data into Gemini?

Google's privacy page says some chats are read by human reviewers, unless you turn off Keep Activity, and asks you not to enter confidential information. Take out customer names, emails and anything private before you upload a report.

Are there ads in Gemini?

In Google Search, yes: Google says Search, Shopping and Performance Max ads can show in AI Overviews and AI Mode, in English, in the US and some other English-speaking countries. In the Gemini app, I found no Google announcement of ads when I checked on 3 November 2026.
