Profitable Dropshipping Niches: What the Google Ads Data Shows
Most niche lists you find are trend guesses with no numbers behind them. This page shows what Google Ads returned in the store accounts ZenoX Media runs, niche by niche, with the account count next to every number. Then how to test your own niche without burning the budget.

Your margin decides if a niche pays, not the niche. In ZenoX Media's Google Ads store accounts, the median ROAS was 2.43x for general stores, 2.42x for home decor and 2.19x for fashion. If your break-even ROAS sits above your niche's median, most stores there lose money on it. ZenoX is our founder's agency.
Median Google Ads ROAS by Niche
ROAS is what you get back for every dollar of ad spend. A ROAS of 2 means $2 in sales for $1 in ads. The table shows ROAS per account in the niches where ZenoX Media, the Google Ads agency our founder runs, manages at least 10 store accounts.
Read it like this. The middle number is the median account. A quarter of accounts did worse than the low number, and a quarter did better than the high number. The last column is the gross margin a product needs to break even at the median.
| Niche | Accounts | Weaker quarter (25th percentile) | Median ROAS | Stronger quarter (75th percentile) | Margin to break even at the median |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fashion | 292 | 1.72x | 2.19x | 2.50x | 46% or more |
| Home Decor | 66 | 2.06x | 2.42x | 2.74x | 42% or more |
| General Store | 29 | 2.04x | 2.43x | 2.63x | 42% or more |
Look at how close the medians are: 2.19x to 2.43x. Now look inside fashion alone. Its weaker quarter sits at 1.72x and its stronger quarter at 2.50x. The gap between two fashion stores is bigger than the gap between the niches. Picking fashion or home decor matters less than the product you pick inside it, and the margin on that product.
Fashion is 75% of the accounts in this table, so its row rests on the most data. The full study, with the method and every caveat, is on Google Ads benchmarks.
Niche ROAS by Country
Same agency, a second cut: the median account per niche and market. It comes from a different report than the table above, so the two do not add up to each other. Use it to see if your market is in line, not to pick a country.
| Market | Niche | Accounts | Median ROAS |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Fashion | 92 | 2.33x |
| United Kingdom | Fashion | 38 | 2.25x |
| Poland | Fashion | 19 | 2.29x |
| Sweden | Fashion | 17 | 2.27x |
| Netherlands + Belgium | Fashion | 15 | 2.33x |
| Netherlands | Fashion | 12 | 2.30x |
| United Kingdom | Home Decor | 13 | 2.60x |
| Poland | Home Decor | 12 | 2.52x |
Every row sits in a tight band. In this data, no market moved a niche far from its median. If your account is far below the row for your market, look at your own products and search terms before you blame the country.
Your Margin Decides If a Niche Is Profitable
Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your margin. Margin here means what is left of the price after the supplier, shipping and payment fees, before ads.
Worked example, not data. Product A sells for $40 and leaves $10. That is a 25% margin, so it needs a ROAS of 4.00x just to break even. Every niche median above is lower than that. At a typical account's results, Product A loses money on every sale.
Product B sells for $60 and leaves $30. That is 50%, so it breaks even at 2.00x. Every niche median above is higher than that. Same niche, same ads, and Product B makes money where Product A loses it.
A niche with a high median ROAS still loses money on a thin-margin product. Do the sum for your own product with the break-even ROAS calculator before you pick anything.
What Makes a Niche Work for Google Ads Dropshipping
Google is a search engine. The niche has to fit how people search. Check these before you commit.
- People already search for it. Look the product up in Google's Keyword Planner. It shows estimates of how often a search happens and what it costs to show up. No searches means Google has no one to show your ad to.
- The price leaves room. A higher price usually leaves more dollars per order to pay for the click. A cheap product with a thin margin has almost no room.
- You can ship it honestly. Merchant Center checks that your delivery times and returns are true. A niche where every supplier is weeks away needs a store that says so.
- Google allows it. Some products are restricted or banned on Shopping. Read Google's Shopping ads policies before you build a store around one.
- Returns will not eat you. Fashion has sizes, so some orders come back. Price that in, and say on your returns page who pays the return shipping.
- It shows well in a photo. On Shopping the picture does most of the work. A product that looks like nothing in a small image is hard to sell there.

Why This Page Names Only Three Niches
We only print a niche when at least 10 accounts sit behind it. Below that, one great or one awful store moves the median too much to mean anything. So niches with fewer accounts are left out. That does not mean they lose money. It means this data cannot say.
These are online stores that ZenoX Media runs Google Ads for, some of them dropshipping. The data does not split dropshipping stores from stores that hold their own stock. Read it as Google Ads results for these niches, not as dropshipping-only numbers.
Check Your Own Niche Against the Data
The table tells you what a typical account in your niche gets. Your account tells you what you get. If you sit below your row, the reason is usually a few products or searches that spend and never sell.
We built Scaley AI to find those. Scaley Media Buyer ($99/mo + 1% of total ad spend) connects to your live Google Ads read-only. Ask it "which products and searches spent money this week and never sold?" and you see the waste right away. It answers when you ask and never changes a setting. 3-day free trial. Card required. No account connected yet? Scaley Consultant ($99/mo flat) answers from a screenshot of your product report. Scaley Suite ($199/mo + 4% of total ad spend) goes one step further and brings each fix, then waits for your yes on that one change. Its dashboard also shows how much Scaley found in wasted spend this week.

How to Test a New Niche on Google Shopping
Eight steps. The money sum comes first, the ads come last.
Work Out Your Break-Even ROAS
Take what is left of the price after the supplier, shipping and fees. Divide 1 by that margin. That is the ROAS a product must beat.
Compare It to the Niche Median
If your break-even ROAS is above the median for your niche, most accounts would lose money on that product. Find a better margin first.
Check People Search for It
Look up the product in Keyword Planner. Pick products people already type into Google by name.
Fix the Pages Google Checks
A real contact page, true shipping times and a clear returns page. Set the same shipping times in Merchant Center.
Clean the Titles and Images
Put the most important words first in each title, the way a buyer searches. Use a clean product photo with no text on it.
Launch One Standard Shopping Campaign
Only the test products, one campaign, and a budget planned on the monthly number. Google can spend up to twice the daily budget on a given day.
Write Your Kill Rule Before You Start
Decide how much a product may spend with no sale before you pause it. Base it on what one sale is allowed to cost you.
Read Search Terms Every Week
Add the searches that will never buy as negatives. Judge the niche on your ROAS against your break-even, not against the table.
What Not to Do
- Do not pick a niche from a list that shows no account count. You cannot tell where its numbers came from.
- Do not compare your ROAS to the table without your margin. A ROAS above the median can still lose money on a thin product.
- Do not start a niche test on Performance Max. Standard Shopping shows which product and which search spent the money.
- Do not buy stock or build ten stores before the test says yes. Dropshipping lets you test first, so use that.
- Do not promise fast delivery the supplier cannot keep. That is a Merchant Center misrepresentation risk, not only an unhappy buyer.
Questions People Ask
In ZenoX Media's store accounts, the niche medians were close: 2.19x to 2.43x ROAS. The bigger difference is inside a niche, between a well-run store with good margins and a weak one. Pick the product and the margin first, the niche second.
